| Jayasinghe's 164 puts Kings into final MSCC Staff August 22, 2004 MSCC's Sri Lankan star Asela Jayasinghe blasted 164 against MDCC Gladiators to put the MSCC Kings into their first championship final. The Sri Lankan star played the ball to all corners of Bloomers Park in what was the highest individual score by any player this season. Jayasinghe received excellent support from Kings captain Karthik Ramaswamy (35runs) for a third wicked partnership of 145. The Kings where able to amass a total of 261 off their 45 overs.
The Gladiators got away to a solid start in their run chase with openers Girish Shankaran and Sriram Raghavan putting on a opening partnership of 48 runs. The Kings looked very sluggish in the second innings and the Gladiators took advantage with solid batting in the middle order by Balaji Raghura who fell just short of his 50 on 48. Unfortunately for the Gladiators their run chase fell short at 250 for 9 off their 45 overs. The win for Kings put the club into their first championship final after two previous semi final losses in the last two years. The championship final will be contested between MSCC Kings and DCC Greens champions of the past two seasons.
